If you read any climbing magazine or just listen to hikers you'll hear mountains like Rainier, Hood and Grand Teton frequently.

Perhaps this RSM list gives some measure to that.

Also, notice how far down the scale of Prominence and RSM the Eastern US Mountains are?! That's why I daydream about traveling out west...
