Lifelong swimmer and Olympic hopeful Lidia Yuknavitch (Poots) accepts a college swimming scholarship in Texas in order to escape an abusive father and an alcoholic, suicidal mother. After losing her scholarship to drugs and alcohol, Lidia moves to Eugene and enrolls in the University of Oregon, where she is accepted by Ken Kesey to become one of thirteen graduate students who collaboratively write the novel Caverns with him. Drugs and alcohol continue to flow along with bisexual promiscuity and the discovery of S8M helps ease Lidia's demons. Ultimately Lidia's career as a writer and teacher combined with the love of her husband and son replace the earlier chaos that was her life.

- Is one of only two American actors to win a César Award in France, the French equivalent to the Oscar. The other one is Adrien Brody.
- Prior to filming The Runaways (2010), she worked closely with Joan Jett to perfect her mannerisms, stage presence, vocal tone, attitude and musical skill. Jett later praised Stewart for her dedication and overall performance stating the portrayal made her proud.
- In preparation for her role as a runaway stripper-prostitute in Welcome to the Rileys (2010), Stewart learned how to pole dance, deprived herself of sleep, chain-smoked and ate mostly junk food. As a result, her body and legs were covered with bruises, her skin was blemished and she constantly looked tired.
- Stewart plays the acoustic guitar and electric guitar, as well as the trumpet. She also enjoys photography as a hobby.
